Liquidstar is the Uber or Deliveroo of electricity. Using a mobile application and portable batteries, Liquidstar circumvents the traditional grid transmission and distribution infrastructure using people to pickup or deliver electricity. Increasing energy access and reliability for all.
Electricity still can’t reach 1 out of every 7 people on our planet. The number of individuals without access to energy has only reduced from 1.7 billion in 2000 to 1.1 billion in 2018. 2.6 billion people face continued difficulties due to unreliable or intermittent energy access. The existing electricity infrastructure is expensive to build and maintain making it uneconomical to connect the worlds poor to the grid. 600 million people still use kerosene for basic lighting needs. Traditional off-grid electricity solutions (typically generators powered by petroleum or diesel) are expensive and create both air and noise pollution. UN SDG7: by 2030, enhance international co-operation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced and cleaner fossil-fuel technology, and promote investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology.
Our vision is to leapfrog off-grid markets to the ‘wireless’ battery powered sustainable ecosystems of the future - solving electricity storage and distribution challenges for the powerless 1.1 billion who currently live beyond the economic limits of traditional grid infrastructure buildout (UN SDG7). We envision Liquidstar Waypoints as the science fiction energy station hubs that power the future of off-grid education, healthcare, and the electron based economies of the future. Additionally, ‘Mobile’ Waypoints can be rapidly deployed to mitigate energy issues in emergency and disaster situations, aiding in everything from communications and medical supply refrigeration, to blackout support in developed but unprepared regions (i.e.; California, Japan, etc.).
Liquidstar takes an asymmetric approach to storage and distribution of electrons by combining people, blockchain, identity, batteries, computer vision, and global connectivity with energy arbitrage to create a highly elegant and modern platform for more efficiently and effectively getting energy to people who live beyond the grid edge. Without Liquidstar in the market, the current 1.1 billion off-grid use a mixed basket of expensive, polluting, time consuming, and hazardous energy products, including over 600 million using kerosene with a variety of micro solar pay as you go solutions that are expensive and limited in capacity/scalability.
We are currently in the process of developing pilots in Benin, Nigeria, Lebanon, and Indonesia. After a rigorous selection process our solution was selected to be deployed in Benin, where they are building one of Africa's first smart cities.
